This is the last of the blog articles #81 - 84 that focused on the theme of spiritual freedom based on excerpts from Torkom’s book, The Science of Becoming Oneself. As Torkom wrote, … “the keynote of this book is freedom, the revelation and release of the unknown mystery in man, the freedom of lightning!...[T]hose who crave freedom and cannot find it in the “freedoms” they have, are invited to read this book and live it.” We hope you have enjoyed these articles and that they have inspired you to strive toward experiencing the true freedom within yourself.
The third step is the science of bridge building. This bridge building becomes a conscious process when the man lives on the mental plane. It has three progressive stages:
1. Concentration, Meditation, and Contemplation
2. The Science of Impression
3. The Technique of Indifference
The first stage is very important and forms the foundation for the entire work of bridge building. We can build nothing in our inner or outer world without scientific concentration, meditation, and contemplation. The science of becoming oneself is a great science and the greatest goal of humanity. When a man starts the bridge building process, it is evident that he sees a high peak which challenges all that he has and is. He realizes that he cannot jump there in one step, but that he must build numerous bridges and paths, even space ships, to reach the peak which may turn out to be a star.
Through scientific concentration, meditation, and contemplation the man builds many bridges and different lines of communication between the inner world and the mental plane. He ceases to be the slave of his threefold personality (his physical, emotional, and mental natures) and frees himself to live in the unlimited world of spiritual development.
Through intense discipline he controls his mind; he cleans it and sets the gamut of the mental plane into activity. This is the result of concentration and focusing. Then he tries to extend the bridges between the mental and the spiritual world through scientific meditation. In reality, scientific meditation is a technique to fuse the spiritual and mental worlds. It gradually changes and becomes contemplation, “which is the source of inspiration and illumination.” In this stage man “becomes a static point of concentrated contemplation” and enters into “that silence which enables him to tap the divine Mind, wrest God’s thought out of the divine consciousness and to Know.”
Still the star shines in the deep blue sky beyond the mountains. The man finds that to reach it, he must use not only the mental, love, and intuitional substances but also another kind of substance called the energy of the will. This energy is the answer of the Father to the invocation coming from the Son. The building of a new and higher bridge has begun, using this will energy. It expresses itself as the divine Purpose, as the divine Plan, and as creative, pure ideas.
